Zoning? 2:40pm Wed. 3-22
One of our neighbors has discovered that the Rinker pit is actually zoned R-5 MRO (Mineral Resource Overlay). This zoning does not permit a race track or a recreational vehicle park. According to the County Code, no development can take place that would prevent future mining operations.
Here's the PDS Mineral Resource Overlay page. Zoom in on the map to 400% and you can see the Rinker pit clearly designated as a Sand & Gravel Deposit. If you have trouble with the map on this site you can download the file by going to www.NoMaltbyTrack.org, look under Research Summaries.
King 5 carried the story last night, their reporter asked the County about this and the County said they'd have to get back to her. It will be interesting to see what the County does with this revelation, as we don't believe they were aware of this since the application said the property was zoned R-5. The permit application was submitted on Feb.8th and the zoning was in effect as of Feb 1st.
The Preliminary Fire Review has been downgraded from "approved" to "conditional approved".
